It’s a short-wave infrared source, which is a fancy way of saying it turns electricity into raw, radiant heat almost the second you flip the switch. The nitty-gritty on size and power The 144V rating is a bit of a sweet spot. You’ll usually see these in big arrays where one transformer is feeding a bunch of tubes at once to keep everything balanced. And since they’re only 222mm, they’re pretty compact. It’s great because you can cram more heating power into a small oven or a tight tunnel without having to rebuild your entire machine. What’s happening inside the glass? We use high-purity quartz to hold the tungsten filament in place. Inside, there’s a halogen gas cycle doing the heavy lifting. It stops the filament from thinning out too fast, so the lamp doesn’t just burn out the moment you start cycling it on and off. You get a punchy, concentrated heat that hits your material exactly where it needs to. A few things to watch out for Here’s a pro tip: be careful with your connectors. Quartz expands when it gets hot. If your fit is too tight, the tube will just snap during that first heat-up. Trust me, you don’t want to hear that sound. Also, these things gethot. Fast. That’s the beauty of high heat density, but it can be a double-edged sword. If your conveyor is moving too slow or your PID controller is acting up, you’re going to scorch your product. Plus, don’t forget the cooling fans. If the housing overheats, your wiring insulation will fry, and you’ll be replacing lamps way more often than you should.
