Power in a Small Package
Let’s talk specs, but the human way. A typical setup runs at 400V and 2500W, with the whole tube coming in around 300mm long. That combo delivers a serious blast of heat—quick to ramp up, and stays strong once it’s there. Because it’s a twin-tube, all that power is concentrated along a tight axis. Perfect for jobs where the heat has to be right up close, with almost zero energy wasted on the surroundings. It’s a direct-wire setup. The 400V isn’t an accident—it keeps the current lower than a lower-voltage option would, which means smaller wires and less stress on your connections. But with that kind of power comes a reality check. These lamps run hot. So your machine needs good airflow or the right shielding to keep nearby parts safe and your control steady.
The Build, From the Inside Out
Inside, the halogen tech does a clever trick: it helps keep the quartz envelope cleaner by cycling evaporated filament material back to where it belongs. That twin-tube setup sits inside a single quartz outer jacket. We chose quartz because it can handle sudden temperature swings and lets infrared pass through with no problem. And here’s a smart touch: many versions have a reflective coating on the back half of the outer tube. It catches the heat that would otherwise go to waste and throws it forward, boosting output without asking for more power. For the connections, you’ll usually see an R7s connector. It’s a double-ended, linear contact that locks in solidly, giving you reliable alignment and a clean electrical contact every time. In some spots, you might spot an SK15, but for swapping out heating modules, R7s is the standard go-to.
Where It Shines (And Why It Works)
You’ll typically find these lamps in focused heating stations—places like PET blowing, preheating plastic, activating adhesives, or drying components. The big win is control. You get heat exactly where you want it, and you get it fast. These lamps hit operating temperature in a flash, and the directional output lets you keep the heat tightly zoned. Out in the real world, the install is straightforward. The lamp is compact, the R7s connection wires up cleanly, and the reflective coating makes more of the energy usable. Just plan for proper airflow or shielding, and make sure the fixture alignment is spot on. Once you do that, the lamp delivers consistent heat with very little fuss.
