If you need heat—and you need it now—these are your best bet. We build these with a tungsten filament tucked inside a quartz glass tube and filled with a specific halogen gas mix. Why the gas? It stops the filament from burning out too quickly. This lets us crank the temperature way higher than your average lightbulb without the whole thing just giving up.

Getting the power right

We offer a few different wattages and voltages depending on what you’re actually trying to heat. Here’s the deal: higher voltage lets us make longer tubes without losing that punchy intensity. When you go for the high-wattage versions, the heat hits your target almost the second you flip the switch. Just a heads-up—make sure your wiring and power supply can actually handle the draw. You don’t want to melt your sockets.

The build: Quartz and the R7s base

The R7s connector is a simple spring-contact design. I love these because they’re basically “plug and play.” When a tube dies, you just pop the old one out and slide a new one in. No rewiring, no headache. We use hard quartz glass because it doesn’t crack when things get wildly hot. And if you go with a coated version, the lamp pushes the heat forward. It focuses the energy right where you need it on the workpiece, instead of baking the inside of your machine.

The real-world trade-offs

Look, these lamps are fast, but they runhot. If you’re cramming a 2000W lamp into a tight space, you’ve got to get your cooling fans right. If you don’t, you’ll end up warping your reflectors. We see this happen all the time with PET blowing and curing lines. It’s a bit of a trade-off. You get incredible speed and precision, but you won’t get the lifespan of a ceramic heater. You’re trading a bit of maintenance—swapping out lamps every so often—for raw performance.
